I have built a number of GGG kits and find them to be absolutely wonderful. While my 67 year old arthritic hands make it a bit more difficult for me, it is my eyesight getting worse that is more aggravating. I simply take my time and do a bit here and a bit there. Thanks to JD for him making it possible for all of us to have fun and accomplish something of this magnitude.

I hate to be that guy, but EVH used a Variac. He did however do all kinda unique mods to his guitar and hardware. Tom Scholz actually gave up a massive career with Polaroid as a senior product engineer to pursue his rock and roll dream. He made it in his basement totally diy, we have Boston the self titled album bc this guy was bold enough to pursue his passion. If there were more men like him these days life would be better.

PS: in my top 3 stompbox diy heroes GGG is first place every time

What do I love about the guitar? I agree, the aesthetics of the body, the Stratocaster is just so ergonomic and shapely, the curves are like a woman's. It's a sexy design.
The expressiveness (is that a word) of the guitar is only limited by the player. It's capable of so much in the way of touch, dynamics, nuance, the range of sounds it is capable of. When I watch someone like Jeff Beck play, he can take his guitar from a whisper to a scream with his playing attack and use of the volume knob.

hi Jack,
The “Amp in a box” comment really just applies to the "cranked-Marshall-amp-like" distortion sounds you can get out of it and the fact that it has similar controls as an amp, with the 3-knob treble-mid-bass tone control. It is a really excellent distortion stompbox. You can get good overdrive sounds and very nice thicker distortion sounds as well. With the mid tone control you can also get a pretty good scooped-mids heavy metal sound. It’s a versatile distortion machine. -JD
